Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

I want to join the client company which i am working for. But the current employer made me sign the Non compete clause. Can i still apply the job in the client. My client side manager have no issues in interviewing me but he, as a well wisher, asked me to check with my current employer for this non-compete cause. Can i go ahead and give a "go ahead" to my client side manager or not? If i am selected for the client company, will there be any legal proceedings against me as I signed the non compete clause?

Unless you can get the current employer to waive its non compete, you can not go and work for the client. These are strictly enforced and you may need me to review it for you to see if there are other ways out. Contact me unless they automatically yes, then you must also get it in writing.
