Legal Question in Workers Comp in Michigan

W Comp Law

I am receiving Duty disability retirement from the City of Detroit but am having problems with my weekly checks. They do not send them out on a timely manner and are frequently late. I call to get confirmation and to asked questions yet noone returns my calls. This check is my livlihood. I receive no other income as my wife is on medical leave from her job. Can you please send me a copy of Michigan's Workmans Comp Law. I need to have this for reference so I can address issues that come up per the Law. Thank you.

Re: W Comp Law

You should decide whether you want to settle your case with the City for a lump sum. If you get the right amount, then you have the money and do not have to worry about payment. It all depends on whether the City is willing to settle out and the amount. Lately, the amounts have not been great because the City wants to hang onto their money and they are notoriously short of funds. If you have questions, call Bill Stern at 248-353-9400.
