Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

Allowing a neighbor to use a piece of my property.

The corner of my 3.5 acre lot protrudes into my neighbors lot. A few years ago he cleared his property and asked me if he could clear the corner of my property that protudes into his. Trying to be a good neighbor, I allowed him to do it an he has kept it cleared since. A friend told me that if he maintains this piece of my property for seven years he can claim that piece of property as his. Is this true?

No, its not true. Your friend is talking about what is called Adverse Possession. In order to gain property via adverse possession the time required is twenty years, not seven. Also, the use of the property by the taker must be open and notorious, if you gave him permission he can't claim his use was notorious.
