Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Layoff

I was recently layed off from my job which I was in for one year. During that year I was harrased by a female doctor that made the comment ''I hate republicans and gays'' at work. She was terminated. I then had someone scratch the word ''FAG'' in my office door and a few other small comments related to my sexuality. The company HR always seemed to support me but, I always felt like I was a HR ''burden''. Last month the company did a major lay off. They have 4 medical centers all of which had a site manager (which I was). I have come to find out that I was the only site manager to be layed off. All other sites kept their managers but got rid of their clinical charge nurse. At my site they asked her to go from 28 hours to 40 hours a week and take over my position. My thought about this is that it was an easy way to get rid of me due to the sexual harrasment issues in the past. Is this legal?
