This depends on your circumstances. You say you are illegal, but does that mean (1) your visa expired, or does it mean that (2) you originally arrived in the US illegally (without inspection)? If it's number 2, yes, you can be deported. Your marriage will not save you. If it's number 1, then you can marry and adjust status even if your visa expired.

Hi There! Marrying a U.S. citizen will not help you unless your spouse files a petition on your behalf. If you entered the United States legally, with a visa of some kind, it is possible to file the petition, the application for your green card, and your work permit all at one time. If you entered the U.S. without documentation, you will have to return to your country and consular process. Let me know the facts and I can tell you for sure. Incidentally, if you run across police officers and they stop you, they will be authorized to ask for your status. So be careful and try to see an immigration lawyer as quickly as possible if you are married to a U.S. citizen.
