Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio

Ran Stop Sign/No operators license

My license is suspended due to a 12-point suspension. I have not been un-lawfully driving during my suspension. I participated in the required adult remedial driving course, paid the reinstatement fee and have scheduled the driving test. My drivers exam is scheduled for Oct. 27th. Last night, my brother and I went to Columbus; he drove. He parked in a one-way alley and when we decided to leave, there were many drunk people and cars and he didn't feel comfortable maneuvering through all of that so I decided to help him get back to the main street. Neither of us saw the stop sign and a bike cop got me for that and no operator's license because it is suspended. A few years ago I was picked up for driving on a suspended license in another county (I forgot to pay a speeding ticket and was not aware of the suspension at the time). My court date is Oct. 31st and I get married Nov. 4th. What is likely to happen in court, what should I expect and if necessary, do I need an attorney and what are my best chances of avoiding any jail time, especially considering my wedding? Thanks.

Hire a lawyer and plead not guilty. In Franklin County, if your record's not too bad and if you can get yourself legal before your case is resolved, there's a good chance that they will amend the driving under suspension charge to driving without a license and order a fine only.

Dont worry at all about your wedding. Plead not guilty at your arraignment, and the court date will be set in about a month from your first court date. You will need an attorney. If you hired one he could file a notice of appearance so that you wouldnt have to appear until December.
