Can a township sheriff sale your home for delinquent sewer or can they only file a lien?

I looked at the law. The answer seems to be no. But the lien can last a long long time and you cannot sell the property unless the lien is take care of out of the sale proceeds. It earns interest and they can add on attorney's fees. You really need to think about working out a payment on this unless you have some type of bona fide argument or defense. In that case, I suggest that you see a local real estate or other lawyer who handles municipal liens and pay the attorney to review your situation and advise.
