Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

Her Bad Credit Because of Him

My friend has bad credit because of her husband. They have been separated for 3 years. He was the money manager for their home. He allowed the house to be foreclosed and left her without a home. He also forged her name to get credit cards in her name. She only worked part time and had no specialized education. She got a Concorde degree in insurance coding and is now able to support herself. After 3 years, he is still messing up her credit. She is afraid of divorce because he pays her medical insurance and she has some medical problems. She has trouble financing anything she wants to buy because of him. If she gets a divorce, could he be responsible for providing her insurance still and would he have to reimburse her for her education costs? She just needs guidance on what her rights are. Thank you.

Re: Her Bad Credit Because of Him

Your friend needs to talk with an attorney who handles divorces to discuss her options. Her husband could be required to continue providing her insurance even after a divorce, and he also could be required to clean up her credit problems.
