Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Son Being Threatened By Wife's Ex-Boyfriend

My son and his wife celebrated their 1st anniversary this year. She has a 3 year old child that she has to share custody with her ex-boyfriend. The ex-boyfriend has been in trouble with the law, cannot hold a job and is now threatening my son and his family with physical harm. My son is in the Army at Fort Hood, but lives off base. They can't or won't do anything. The Killeen police gave them a case number. Nobody seems to want to help! What can he do to protect himself and his family?

"They" can't or won't do anything because no crime has been committed - or at least no proof exists yet. How about taped phone conversations" How about a secretly placed video camera? They could pursue a permanent injunction keeping him 1000' away at all times. She might request a protective order> Just a few suggestions.
