Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Child Support Exception(s)

If I were to get pregnant and live with the father, would he still have to pay child support (I don't want him to)? What if we did not live together but he still took an active role in our child's life and provided for him/her as needed? I have heard that he only has to pay child support if I seek it but I'd like confirmation. Thank you!

Re: Child Support Exception(s)

Yes, your last assertion is correct unless you were to begin receiving Tanef(welfare) benefits in the Commonwealth, a circumstance which would require DCSE(Division Of Child Support Enforcement) to pursue him for child support.
