Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

ok so here is the short and sweet of it... if someone is a paralegal and has been told not to share case info with their cousin because the cousins spouse is a defendant in one of the cases in the legal office, when does the conflict of interest actually end and information able to be shared? the cousin has talked about divorce but has not actually filed, and the marriage is on the rocks. so when could the paralegal legally share the info with the cousin?
