can a person convey his farm at his death to his son until the son's retirement, and then to his14 grandchildren?

Yes. Although normally this sort of conveyance would be for the life of the son rather than being measured from his retirement. You might consider using a Revocable Living Trust to accomplish this same sort of conveyance. Should be quite easy to set up.
