Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

removal of an un wanted persen living in house

i am a son living in mothers house. mother is in a nursing home on ventilator and unable to make decissions. i was left to care for her estate and health. this person is a cousin and was alowed to sleep on a bed a year ago because he was homeless and not working. he has had a job over a year. does not pay any rent and won't leave when asked to. his stay was only temparary. i do not have power of attorny and no money to persue legal gardianship. no need too because mother does not have any real assets besides home which is willed to children. can i just throw this guy out and change locks or does he have legal right to be there and if he does how do i go about evicting him

Re: removal of an un wanted persen living in house

I'd just put his stuff in the garage and tell him where it is and lock him out. If there's not a written lease I don't see what he can do to suggest he has a right to live there. The eviction process isn't really effective when someone lives in a room or something...it's more designed for a solely used apartment.
