Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

My husband and I have been married for 10 years separated for well over 1 year we were actually supposed to get divorced on March 6th,2020 but he didnt show up for court so the judge dismissed the case so now I'm having to refile but he has already told me that he will not sign the papers for the divorce. My question is how can I still get a divorce without him showing up or signing any documents. What is the process and the first time we filed we filed a No Contest Divorce

North Carolina is a no fault state. That means you don't need your spouse's permission, consent or for them to show up in court or sign paperwork to divorce them - you just need to know what you are doing and you likely don't. If you did things properly, your case would not have been dismissed because he didn't show. If your car breaks down and you aren't a mechanic - you hire a mechanic. The same is true for legal work. If you aren't an attorney - you hire an attorney. We could have likely had you divorced by now for a total of $395, which unless you are indigent is likely close to or even less than what you spent screwing things up.
