Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Tennessee

Estate Laws

I have contacted via email by someone in the UK. He says that I have been named as the beneficiary of a man that had no will when he died. The fund is in a bank in Africa. I have heard that these are scams, however, the representative that emailed me called me today and said that I could give them an account number that has no money in it at all. They need an account number to transfer the money into it. How would this be a scam to get money?

Re: Estate Laws

Are you really not sure how this can be a scam? It's hard to detect sarcasm through text.

How can you be named a beneficiary if there was no Will? That is why Wills exist, to name beneficiaries.

Why would you have been chosen to receive anything? Do you know anyone in Africa? Do you even know anyone who has been to Africa?
