Legal Question in Employment Law in Alaska
Does an "at will employee" mean I can be terminated for no reason whatsoever? What guidelines are in place to protect the employee and keep the boss in check?

Yes. Unless your employer fires you for a specific improper motive (discrimination, whistle blowing, union orgainzation, etc.).
There are protections for employees (minimum wages, OSHA regulations,Family and Medical Leave Act, etc.), but general job security is not one of them.
