Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

federal law violation?

I work for a state agency and you earn four hours of sick and annual leave every pay period. If you use the sick or annual leave before a pay period ends and they need someone to stay over and work a double they keep you and state to you that you are paying them back. It is on your time card as overtime but they do not pay you nor comp you out. is this legal?

That does not sound right and I don't think they can do that. Contact the Wage and Hour division with the US department of Labor -- they wioll know for sure. There is probably a web site with the goovernment that would answer the question as well.
