Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Making Foodservers/Waiters Reimbures Monies

In the Restaurant/Hotel industry are the foodserver/waiters responsible and/or be made to pay for customers meals if they walk out on the check or dispute the charge on a credit card, for a variety of reasons, resulting in a charge back?

Under Florida law, there is no requirement that a waiter/food server "pay back" a restaurant if a patron has skipped out on a bill. In fact, any such requirement could potentially violate state and federal wage & hour laws depending upon the situation.
