Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

retainer fee

in addition to my first question; i gave this lawyer $5000 up front and in cash for his retainer fee to take my case....it has been exactly one year since ive retained him...as i mentioned in the first question all charges have been dropped by the county atty. office so im wondering if i dismiss my lawyer am i entitled to a refund on the retainer fee. i dont feel that this lawyer has represented me to the best of his capabilities anyway...he was a referral; not one of my choosing. i mentioned in my first question his job performance over this past year towards my case. i want to dismiss him and get an itemized bill of his services because i dont believe hes provided me with $5000 worth of services. thanks for your advice and expertise on this matter.

You're entitled to an accounting and a refund of all unearned money. If the charges were dismissed, what more do you expect the person to do? I don't see what your issue is here.
