Broken Door Handle

A co-worker was riding in my personal vehicle in route to a company supported career function. The doors in my car lock automatically. When he started to get out of the car the passenger side door, he could not open the door. I asked him to wait until I unlocked the door with the automatic lock, he did not wait, and he proceeded to try to open the door. In his efforts to get out of the car he broke the inside handle to the car door. He offered to pay for the damage. I told him I would send him the estimate for the repair. We received the estimate the day he broke the lock. I also told him in my e-mail that I would send him the final bill when I had the door installed which I did. We he received the final bill he said that he was not going to pay that amount. What are my rights

Re: Broken Door Handle

You can take him to small claims court in your county. Go to the District Court and they can give you the complaint form that you must fill out and file. Then you will give a copy of the complaint to the co-worker. If you aren't able to work out a settlement, you go to court on the scheduled date and tell your story to the judge.
