I was wondering if we will be notified when the will is read and when do they do this ?

There's really no formal reading of the will. Most times, the probate lawyer will mail copies of the will to each of the beneficiaries that the testator named in the will. Also, if the will has been filed for probate, you can obtain a copy from the county clerk.
